EVERYONE MUST COMPLETE AN INDUCTION BEFORE SWIMMING - MINIMUM AGE LIMIT IS 8 YEARS
When you arrive please sign in and show your membership card, if you can’t find your card we will endeavour to find you in the book
Please sign your vehicle in via the tablet at the Watersports Centre .(Please enter your registration correctly otherwise you will incur a fine.

The weather can affect opening times so make sure you check our Facebook page for up to date insights as to when we are open .

There are 4 marked out swim courses available with a whole host of other options to mix it up. A 400m,550m,750m and 1330m perimeter swim.
​
There is a safety boat on the lake at all times and First Aid trained staff are available in case of an emergency.
All swimmers will be required to use tow float.
When entering and leaving the water via the steps please pay attention to other people.
Upon leaving the water please make sure you SIGN OUT.
There will be no hot drinks available from the centre so you will have to bring your own or use the cafe.

WHAT TO WEAR
SWIMMERS MUST WEAR A BRIGHTLY COLOURED SWIM CAP AND WE WILL SUPPLY A BRIGHTLY COLOURED TOW FLOAT. YOU MUST WEAR A WETSUIT DURING THE INDUCTION BUT IT IS OPTIONAL THEREAFTER UNTIL THE WATER TEMPERATURE DROPS DOWN TO A CHILLY 5°C. WETSUITS PROVIDE BUOYANCY SO WE WOULD RECOMMEND THAT YOU WEAR ONE FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY.
YOU CAN BORROW A WETSUIT FROM US IF YOU DON'T HAVE ONE FOR THE INDUCTION FREE OF CHARGE AND THERE IS A SMALL FEE AFTER THAT.
INDUCTIONS AT LEYBOURNE
All the swimmers at Leybourne Lake are required to undertake a one-off swim induction. Minimum age 8 years

The inductions are delivered in a friendly environment by our specialist open water coaches and will take approx 45 mins.
​
The induction will include useful cold water swimming tips as well as specific information about our lake and safety rules and
regulations. Anyone undertaking the assessment should be capable of at least a 200m swim .If you don't have a wetsuit we can lend you one

SWIMMING WITH CHILDREN
CHILDREN MAY TAKE THE SWIM INDUCTION FROM AGE 8 BUT MUST BE ACCOMPANIED IN THE WATER DURING THE INDUCTION BY THE ADULT THEY WILL SUBSEQUENTLY BE SWIMMING WITH IF SUCCESSFUL. CHILDREN MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT (OVER 18) IN THE WATER AT ALL TIMES AND ALL U18's MUST WEAR A WETSUIT AT ALL TIMES.

THE WATER TEMPERATURE MUST BE OVER 18degC TO HOLD AN INDUCTION WITH A MINOR. KEEP AN EYE ON THE WEBSITE FOR TEMPERATURE UPDATES.
