WHAT TO WEAR
SWIMMERS MUST WEAR A BRIGHTLY COLOURED SWIM CAP AND WE WILL SUPPLY A BRIGHTLY COLOURED TOW FLOAT. YOU MUST WEAR A WETSUIT DURING THE INDUCTION BUT IT IS OPTIONAL THEREAFTER UNTIL THE WATER TEMPERATURE DROPS DOWN TO A CHILLY S 5°C. WETSUITS PROVIDE BUOYANCY SO WE WOULD RECOMMEND THAT YOU WEAR ONE FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY.
YOU CAN BORROW A WETSUIT FROM US IF YOU DON'T HAVE ONE FOR THE INDUCTION FREE OF CHARGE AND THERE IS A SMALL FEE AFTER THAT.
OPEN WATER SWIMMING.
SWIMMING - COVID 19 UPDATE-EVERYONE MUST COMPLETE AN INDUCTION BEFORE SWIMMING
SWIM INDUCTIONS WILL BE AVAILABLE IN MAY
Access to the water will be by pre-booked online appointments online, if you turn up at the lake and are not booked in you will not be able to swim with no exceptions.
Please visit the website to book your swim (leybournelakewatersports.co.uk). You will be required to show your swim ID membership card on arrival, if you can’t find your card we will endeavour to find you in the book as quickly as possible however please be aware this could potentially cost you some of your swim time. We will fill in the details for, and supply you with, your car parking permit which must placed on your dashboard as normal.
The appointments will initially be 1-hour slots and will be at staggered start times and as such if you wish to swim with a family member you will need to book adjacent swim slots, for example the 10:15 slot and the 10:20 slot.
The swims will be £6 and must be paid for online at the time of booking.
Initially only 1 booking per person per day will be allowed.
As we can all appreciate there may be a high demand for the swim slots and as such any bookings that need to be cancelled must be completed by you online 24hrs in advance to receive a refund.
Everybody has an equal right to swim and so anybody block booking or abusing the booking system by repeatedly booking and cancelling or by repeatedly booking and not arriving will be spoken to and ultimately will face having their membership revoked.
Please arrive promptly at the centre up to but not more than 15 mins before your allotted swim time. Unfortunately, no allowances can be made for lateness
If your arrive at the centre with any non-swimming family members, if for example they are providing transport, they will need to either stay in the car or disperse into the country park away from the watersports centre as we simply will not have space to accommodate spectators under social distancing rules.
You must arrive at the centre with all your equipment and clothing to hand, as changing rooms will not be available.
When you arrive please approach the reception table to sign in and show your membership card. Your booking slot will be checked and we will sign you in to the centre so please have your membership card ready to show. If you cannot find your membership card we can supply you with a new one but in this case we would ask that you bring a valid form of ID with you.
Once signed in you will be asked to move to one of the vacant chairs to get changed and prepare to enter the water. The chairs will be laid out in a grid, with sufficient separation to allow for social distancing whilst you change and must not be moved. There will be no tables.
Once ready to enter the water you can place your bag with all your belongings under the signing-in tables where we can keep an eye on them. We will of course be vigilant but bags will be left at the owner’s risk.
All swimmers will be required to use tow floats. We would urge you to buy your own however in the mean time we can still supply one if required, in this instance upon exiting the water the swimmer will be required to dunk our tow floats in a large bucket of Milton disinfectant, then dunk them in a large bucket of clean water and hang out to dry over the fence.
If you arrive on time and are prepared you should be ready to enter the water at your allotted time slot and will have a full hour to enjoy your swim if you so wish.
Your swim time will be over at the end of your allotted 1 hr time slot no matter when you enter the water and there can be no exceptions so please make sure you choose a swim course choice that will facilitate this.
Initially we will be allowing people to manage their own swim hour however if anyone abuses the privilege and does not exit on or before the allotted time then it will be revoked.
When entering and leaving the water via the steps please pay attention to other people such that you don’t break the social distancing advice of 2m separation.
Upon leaving the water and washing off the tow float recover your bag from under the sign-in desk and ask us to sign you out of the water. You can then either go to your vehicle to change or move to a vacant chair and get changed.
Once changed you must then leave in good time to let other people come in and use the facilities.
There will be no hot drinks available from the centre so you will have to bring your own if you want them but we will ask that you move away from the centre and drink them elsewhere in the park to allow the space at the centre to keep everyone as safe as possible.
